What is CAT?

CAT (Common Admission Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to MBA and management programmes offered by IIMs and several top B-schools in India. A high CAT score can open doors to some of the most prestigious institutions in the country.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

• Final-year students awaiting results are eligible, subject to final graduation marks.

• There is no upper age limit or restriction on number of attempts.

Application Fees:

CAT 2025 exam fees has been increased this year too. It has been seen that, the CAT exam fees is revised every year.

• ₹2,600 for General, EWS, and NC-OBC candidates

• ₹1,300 for SC/ST/PwD candidates 

Exam Pattern & Structure:

The CAT 2025 exam will be conducted in three shifts like previous years in around 170 cities across India. As per the CAT 2025 notification PDF, the exam pattern and syllabus have remained unchanged.

• Mode: Online, Computer-Based Test (CBT)

• Sections:

  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC)

  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)

  • Quantitative Ability (QA)

• Total Questions: Typically 66–68 questions (MCQs + TITA)

• Duration: 120 minutes (40 min per section)

• Marking Scheme: +3 for each correct MCQ, –1 for each incorrect MCQ, no negative marking for TITA / non-MCQs
